King's Bishop Gambit I have often played the regular king's gambit with 3.Nc3, but black gets a good game with the g5 lines. So I am thinking of playing the move 3.Bc4.

Do any of You know lines stemming from this opening. books usually only give a couple of lines so I'm looking for more.

You can check... Urosub GK games. He is playing this line exclusively and have many nice games played here. Actually he believes that after 3.Bc4 white wins by force:)

One interesting line for black against it is 3...b5. Looks risky, but leads to interesting play.

I believe 3....c6 is the reccomended move 4.Nc3 d5 5. exd5 Qh4+! 6.Kf1 f3 7.d3 fxg2+ 8.Kxg2 Nf6 9. Qe2+!... is one line I think I've memorised correctly.

I love the bishops gambit!

By the way, you did mean 3.Nf3 and not 3.Nc3 as you wrote didn't you....:)

sorry! Quite plausable you used to play 3.Nc3 it's the Mason Gambit isn't it! After 3..Qh4+ though the king ends up on a horrible sqare (e2 I think, blocking in the bishop). Good descision to start playing the bishops gambit. Don't forget Bobby Fisher claimed to have refuted the kings gambit with 3...d6, but still perservered with 3.Bc4 himself!

Correction Sorry, Chris21 was initially right, I did mean the Nf3 gambit.

Anyway, the 3. c6 line appears to be good for white becase he has better develompement and the stronger center. I think black can improve with 4...Nf6 5.Bb3 d5 6. ed cd d4 with a slight white advantage.

I believe that... main line is 3...d5, not 3...c6. 3...c6 is playable, but looks too slow. However I personally do not feel comfortably for black in 3...d5 line:)

Avoiding the KB gambit I avoid the KB Gambit by playing, as Black, 1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3. exd5 exf4 - 4. Bc4 would be pointless now after ... Bd6.
